Society43 supports OFA for second straight year

Last Thursday night, the Society43 team traveled 90 minutes north to attend the Oregon Football Association’s (OFA) Executive Dinner at Urban Studio in Portland. For the second straight year, Society43 supported the event as a sponsor along with other companies like Nike, Absolut Vodka, and Brix Tavern. This year’s event was highlighted by watching the Oregon vs Arizona State game with a group of former players and an opportunity to learn from a halftime presentation by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield.
The OFA is an organization comprised of former University of Oregon football players and was founded by Ryan DePalo, Dennis Dixon, Brent Haberly, Garren Strong, and Jaison Williams. Their mission is to enhance the lives of young athletes through sports training and mentoring and to supply each child with the tools to be successful. OFA accomplishes these goals by organizing youth football camps and charity events.
The event was a huge success for both OFA and Society43. Not only did we get to learn from a legend, Tinker Hatfield, how to successfully brand an organization like Oregon Football, we also scored the two best items in the silent auction, a University of Oregon Rose Bowl helmet and a pair of Oregon-themed Jordan IX’s signed by Tinker. All proceeds from the event went to the OFA movement, and we were happy support the cause. This is just one of the ways we try to affect change on our community, and we appreciate the opportunity to help an organization like OFA continue helping underprivileged youth in Oregon.
Check the photos below for images from the event.

We just purchased plane tickets to head back to East Africa in March of 2013 and continue our work with our non-profit partner, Two Feet Project. We couldn’t be more excited!
Below is a Q & A with our CEO, Jason Bolt, about the Two Feet Project and why he is an advocate of companies supporting community:
Why is it important for you and your company to get involved with nonprofits assisting people both locally and around the world?
Giving back to local and global communities is one of the foundational principles of Society43. I got into business because I knew that I could have a much greater impact on the world through my company than I could ever achieve by myself. I’ve sought out like-minded people to join our team and now we have a strong team of people dedicated to finding creative ways to use the resources of the company to make an impact on the world.
Why did you decide to get involved with Two Feet Project?
The mission behind Two Feet and the goals of our business were a perfect match. Our company is all about allowing fans to express their passion for their favorite sports teams through quality, creative products. Two Feet’s use of sports to bridge cultural gaps and teach life lessons fits very well with who we are and how we want to get involved around the world. We believe that sports can be a very successful tool in teaching life skills and we wanted to partner with an organization that shares that belief and puts it into practice.
Why is it important for companies and organizations to help the youth of our generation?
We all have a responsibility to give back to the communities around us both locally and globally. Individually we can and should all do things to give, serve, and invest in the lives of the youth. Collectively, companies and organizations can often make a huge impact because of their size and resources. The current youth will shape the direction of our culture and our communities in the future so it is incredibly important to invest in them now.
What is unique about daily interaction with university age students?
Interacting daily with young people is an amazing way to keep a positive outlook on life and to enjoy our work. Combining fun products, collegiate sports, and serving our community creates an experience that most people love to be a part of. The fans and students we talk to at tailgates, pep rallies, and other events provide the fuel we need as a company to introduce the best products and make the biggest impact.

Society43 Story:
In 1843, the first collegiate team was founded in the form of Yale’s boat club. Harvard swiftly followed suit, resulting in the first collegiate competition.
Society43 acknowledges the tradition inherent in our products and the iconic logos they bear. It says the fans today are the same as the fans of old. It says the fans today care just as deeply as the fans of old cared. It says the fans today stand together just as the fans of old stood together.
Today’s collegiate fans might dress differently, but they still feel the same excitement that comes from watching their team pummel their opponents under the banner of their alma mater. The style might be updated, but the society is still the same. Society43.
